Top 10 Non-Skiing Activities in Whistler

When most people think of Whistler they think of skiing or snowboarding. As one of the world’s best ski resorts, that’s fairly understandable, but you don’t have to ski to have fun in Whistler.

Here area some of our Realtors’ favourite non-skiing winter activities:

  1. Peak 2 Peak Gondola

One of the best ways to see Whistler and still get up the mountain, without skiing, is the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. The world’s longest unsupported cable-car spans the valley joining the peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb. Take a ride on the gondola to get an incredible aerial view of the area!

  1. Explore the Village

Whistler Village itself is a hub of activity with lots to explore. Why not spend a day exploring and wandering through the pedestrianized streets!? Perfect if you want a quiet day.

  1. Shopping

As you explore the Village you’ll see a huge range of shops – sport shops, clothes, souvenirs, bookshops. Whistler has everything!

  1. Eat out

One of the draws of the Village is the incredible restaurants and cafes. Whatever your mood, whether you want to experience fine-dining or casual eats, Whistler has something for all tastes.

  1. Go straight to après

Perhaps as famous as the skiing, Whistler’s après scene is a site to behold. With tons of bars and pubs to choose from, you can’t go wrong with après in Whistler.

  1. Hiking

Just because there’s snow on the mountains doesn’t mean you can’t go hiking. Whistler’s Valley Trail network is cleared of snow throughout the winter so get outside and explore the valley!

  1. Snowshoeing

If you want to hike up to higher elevations away from the trail network, then you can always strap on some snowshoes and explore the mountains on foot. There are also designated snowshoe trails – find out more here.

  1. Ice skating

There are a couple of ice skating options in Whistler, but the most fun is located at the Olympic Plaza in the centre of the Village. Take to the ice at night and see Whistler lit-up by thousands of colourful twinkling lights.

  1. Yoga

If you’re looking for a great way to relax, workout, or recover from a day on the hill, yoga is the way to go! Whistler has a lot of classes, most with drop-in rates so they’re never hard to find!

  1. Ziplining

Finally, if you’re still craving something on the extreme side and maybe still want to get up the mountain, then ziplining is the way to go! Whistler has a few options, but the biggest and fastest will take you all the way across the valley underneath the Peak 2 Peak!
