Whistler Realtor Q&A: Sharon Audley

September 15, 2017
Sharon Audley

Q: Why did you move to Whistler?

A: I moved for the skiing! I’m from Coquitlam originally, and like a lot of people I initially came for one season and just ended up living here.

Q: What made you stay?

A: Whistler is the total package – the people, the skiing, the outdoors, and just an infectious atmosphere. Summers are even better than winter.

Q: When did you get into real estate?

A: I moved to Whistler in 1975 and got into real estate in 1986.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to buy in Whistler?

A: I always advise people to explore the neighbourhoods preferably by bike on the valley trail and get a feel for each area. This is the best way to discover what location speaks to you and has what you’re looking for.

It’s important to keep an open mind as well when it comes to the properties. For example, there are so many outdoor opportunities here that maybe you don’t need that house with the big yard.

Q: What’s your favourite thing about working with your clients?

A: Whether it’s a $200,000 or $2 million for that buyer it’s a big deal and I appreciate and respect that. And it’s always great to see my clients out and about, enjoying the area and the lifestyle.

Q: What is your favourite thing about the Whistler lifestyle?

A: It’s really easy to get motivated. Everyone is always out either skiing, or hiking or biking. You can be in the office and all of a sudden decide you want to head up the mountains and you can just do that.

It’s so flexible living here that you can have such a great work/life balance.

Q: What makes you smile the most?

A: Taking my nephews on adventures in Whistler!

Q: What do you think you would be if you weren’t a Realtor?

A: I think I would be doing something with photography.

Q: How would you spend your ideal day in Whistler?

A: Obviously skiing in the winter and in the summer going hiking or mountain biking with my camera.

Q: What accomplishment do you consider to be the most significant in your career?

A: I think it would have to be having people trust me with one of the most important decisions of their life. It’s really an honour to be in this industry, especially in Whistler

Q: Finally, in one sentence, why should people come to live here?

A: They’ll have an active healthy life with a small town atmosphere, but with some of the world’s most incredible amenities.
