When did you first move to Whistler?
I first moved to Whistler in my 20s, but I’m from Vancouver and my family have been coming here since the 60’s, so I have been coming here all my life. I moved away for a short time before returning with my husband and two daughters to make the move permanent.
Why did you choose to settle in Whistler?
The West Coast and these mountains are simply home to me. This is where I feel the most at peace. When I met my husband, who’s from the prairies, and took him here for the first time he was hooked as well and knew that raising our kids here was our path. Whistler is certainly on the international stage but there is an incredible local community here of likeminded people and we wanted our family to be a part of that!
What is it like raising a family in Whistler?
For us it’s the Dream. Raising a family with 2 working parents is busy and has its challenges but when you are working hard to achieve it in a place like Whistler that is inspiring and has so much to offer – it makes it all worth it!
People may not know, but we have a sailing club here! It’s not just skiing, mountain biking and snowboarding. There is also a wonderful arts community here, so there are great drama and arts classes as well. The possibilities here are endless, and the beauty of it is that the adults partake in everything here as well, so you can experience all of it alongside your children.
When did you first get into real estate?
Before we moved back I had been involved in land contracts and negotiations so the next logical move for me was residential real estate. I started my career as an Assistant and for me it was a natural progression to move into the role of an Agent. Collaborating with people in achieving their dreams of realizing property ownership in these beautiful mountains is why I love my job.
What advice would you give to someone looking to buy in Whistler?
To achieve your goals, you need to have a good understanding of where the market is and your ‘Why’. This will help lead you to what type of property will work for you. Start that conversation with an Agent who you feel comfortable with and confident in. Someone who has a strong understanding of product, inventory, the current market conditions, and what it’s going to take to get you to the finish line – being property ownership.
What’s your favourite thing about working with your clients?
My favourite part of the job is the people and working together to achieve their goals! I have such an incredible love for this place and that’s all I want for my clients. Whistler is a one of a kind opportunity and the process should be exciting. I really do love sharing in the excitement and being in awe of where we are.
How do you decompress?
The other day my husband and I woke up early and took the paddleboards from the far end of Alta Lake, along the River of Golden Dreams out onto Green Lake and paddled to Emerald. We high-fived at the end of it….another day in the life! Awesome!
My ultimate decompression is just being here in the moment and taking advantage of everything we have and the WHY. That’s the WHY for us. Whether it’s on the mountain, on the lake, or après-ing with friends, when you take the time to enjoy why we’re here that’s what Whistler is about!
What accomplishment do you consider to be the most significant in your career or life?
My husband Cory and our two daughters are everything to me. I am so proud of what we have created and accomplished, together, so far!
Finally, in one sentence, why should people come to live here?
To have the opportunity to be inspired everyday of their life.
