Whistler Spotlight: The Whistler Village Beer Festival

August 3, 2017
Whistler Beer Festival

Started in 2013 by Gibbons Life, The Whistler Village Beer Festival was created to celebrate craft beer and bring together both brewers and beer lovers.

Since its humble beginnings it has grown substantially year on year, with over 60 breweries now taking part. The event is about more than just beer (although that is a big part of it!), with food pairing evenings, and educational workshops throughout.

About the event

The festival takes place over four days in September (this year’s event is 13th-17th) and is one of the last events of the summer, prior to the infamous shoulder season.

The main event happens on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival and sees beer enthusiasts and breweries take over the Olympic Plaza for a weekend of tastings, live music, great food, and much merriment.

If you love craft beer then you definitely don’t want to miss this event. In addition to the tastings and cask nights, there are tons of events taking place throughout the festival, including live music, seminars, and late night parties!

What to expect

The Whistler Village Beer Festival is one of those events that really brings the community together. Expect to have a lot of fun and meet a lot of new people, along with some familiar faces.

It’s about more than beer, with the huge range of events that are taking place, and there is entertainment wherever you turn. Set to the backdrop of the Whistler Village and surrounding mountains, those familiar with the area know that local events are always special.

Experiencing Whistler

The festival really is a perfect fit for Whistler, bringing the community together to share a love of finely crafted beers. It is an opportunity to experience what Whistler is all about and share in the love of the locals!

Take in all the sights and activities and, after all the exertions of summer such as Ironman, Crankworx and the recent GranFondo, having a beer in the sunshine is a wonderful treat to round off the summer season.
