Whistler Centre
A Stone’s Throw from Whistler Village
Imagine waking up to the haunting call of loons echoing across Alta Lake on a
fall morning. Or watching golfers tee off at dawn on a spring day at Whistler
Golf Course from your living room window. Or enjoying a brisk morning stroll
along the Valley Trail to get your morning coffee at one of Whistler’s lively
cafes. This diversity represents the exciting opportunity of living in one of
Whistler Centre’s neighbourhoods — all within walking distance, yet separate
from, Whistler Village.
For those who make Alta Vista home, you own a little piece of Whistler’s
history. Long before skiing and Olympic dreams…before the Second World War
even, Alta Lake was the site of a fishing retreat called Rainbow Lodge, owned
by Alex and Myrtle Philip and considered the biggest Canadian tourist
destination west of Banff. The Philips charged guests 40 cents per night. Some
of the original cabins are still standing at Rainbow Park, on the opposite
side of the Alta Lake.
Before the Second World War, Alta Lake was considered the
biggest Canadian tourist destination west of Banff.
Just three kilometres south of Whistler Village, Brio consists primarily of
single family homes, and the exclusive ski-in/ski-out Sunridge Plateau
development.
Also just south of the Village and perched alongside the Whistler Golf Course
is Blueberry Hill, one of Whistler’s first luxury home subdivisions, which
boasts exquisite views of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Some properties
here are zoned as tourist accommodation, allowing for nightly rentals.
The neighbourhoods of Whistler Cay Heights, Whistler Cay Estates, Tapley’s
Farm and Nesters may well be considered an extension of Whistler Village as
they are all within easy walking distance and linked to the village by the
Valley Trail. Many of these homes here are sited high above the valley floor
and offer breathtaking views of the mountains and Whistler Golf Course.
These neighbourhoods also offer many areas of beach access, an elementary
school, grocery stores, golf courses, fire hall and daycare.
Properties range in style and price including everything from classic single
family homes in the family-oriented subdivisions of Tapley’s Farm to luxury
properties on Treetops near Nesters. Whistler Centre is highly sought after
for its close proximity to the Village.
