Whistler Village

In the Heart of all the Action

Whistler Centre

The Village and Benchlands area puts visitors in the centre of all the energy and excitement that makes Whistler a world-renowned destination consistently rated number one in ski and snowboard magazines such as Powder and Transworld Snowboard. But it’s not just snowsports that keep us number one. The cobblestone pedestrian-only Whistler Village is also known for internationally ranked cuisine, a hopping apres and nightclub scene, high-end spas, and all the retail therapy an avid shopper could want. You’ll also find all the essentials here, including quaint coffee shops, a grocery, hardware and liquor store.

Cultural events are a regular feature within Whistler Village, whether a concert at the Telus Conference Centre or a spoken-word jam at the Maurice Young Millennium Place.

With all this recognition and cosmopolitan flair, it is hard to imagine that Whistler Village was once the site of the original town’s garbage dump. In fact, it wasn’t until 1977 that calls for development proposals for Blackcomb Mountain were issued and a community plan was visualized with the town centre at the site where both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains converge.

Convenience is key for Whistler Village accommodations. Activities for the kids are also right at your doorstep, whether you prefer to try your skills at the climbing gym or to take the family out for a night at the movies. If you are situated at the Blackcomb Base area, the Whistler Tube Park is a great activity for the whole family and operates daily and evenings with a concession stand nearby.

Park the car and go for a stroll, the walk is worth every step.

Whistler Village properties cater to the short-term visitor and thus most have restrictive use covenants to ensure there are homes available for tourists to rent. For example, of the 7,700 Village-area properties, only 42 are detached residences.

Driving is not permitted within the pedestrian Village and although the surrounding area is accessible by car, all amenities are within walking distance. There is pay parking available and a free shuttle service, but the best way to explore Whistler Village is on foot. So park the car and go for a stroll, the walk is worth every step.
