Using CFL bulbs will also save 400 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions for every bulb you switch. While traditional incandescent bulbs might be cheaper up front you actually spend more on these bulbs over time.

Reduce Your Waste through Recycling & Composting

Recycling household waste is a simple efficient task that the whole family can take part in. A simple way to ensure efficient recycling in the home is to introduce a recycling system by separating your garbage.

Composting will reduce the amount of household waste in landfills and ease the cost associated with trash collection. Try to make your kitchen more eco friendly by composting food scraps, which can be used as fertiliser for pot plants and herbs. You can also re-use the water used to wash your dishes, provided you’re not using chemical products, on your garden plants and trees.

One should seek to replace plastic garbage bags with biodegradable paper bags and replace plastic utensils with bamboo or stainless-steel utensils.
