Our Favourite Whistler Lakes

Beautiful Whistler Lake

Whistler has so many cool spots to take advantage of with secluded hikes, mountain lookouts, not to mention ski/snowboard runs and mountain bike trails. But we’re here to talk about lakes!

What better place to relax in summer than next to a cool body of water. We spoke to our agents, who are all long-time locals, to find out their favourite Whistler lakes.

Lost Lake

Located in the Upper Village area, despite the name, Lost Lake is actually one of Whistler’s most accessible lakes.

Surrounded by easy hiking and biking trails it is the perfect place to relax and cool down after a long day. It’s a friendly, relaxed environment and even has a dog beach, along with a nude dock if you’re feeling adventurous!

Alta Lake

Potentially Whistler’s most popular lake, Alta Lake is huge and can be accessed from a variety of different points, all with docks, parks and beaches. Rainbow Park is the largest access point and has docks, volleyball courts, as well as the dog friendly “Barking Bay”.

Connected via the Valley Trail, Rainbow Park gives you fantastic views of both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, and is also a popular spot for night photography.

Nita Lake

Nestled behind Nita Lake Lodge and surrounded by trees, Nita Lake has a great feeling of privacy and is quieter than the other local lakes.

This is the perfect spot to relax and is also a popular place for paddleboards, and even paddleboard yoga!

Green Lake

Instantly recognisable by its unique colour, Green Lake is located just north of Whistler Village along Highway 99.

See incredible views from the shores and enjoy hiking around the lake, however, be wary that being glacier fed, Green Lake can be incredibly cold to swim in.

Joffre Lakes

Although not strictly located in Whistler, Joffre Lakes is still a locals’ favourite. These incredible lakes can be found north of Pemberton and require a bit of a hike to get to.

But, as soon as you see the beautiful sparkling blue water you will see that it was all worth the effort. This is one of the most picturesque spots in the area and one that should not be missed.
