If You’re in the Mood for: Playing in the Snow
If you’re coming to Whistler in the winter months, chances are pretty good that your family enjoys playing in the snow. There’s the obvious choice – skiing or snowboarding on Whistler and Blackcomb – but there are other exciting ways to enjoy the snow, too.
Check out the Coca Cola Tube Park by Base 2 on Blackcomb Mountain. Your family will get its fair share of thrills as you careen down the 1,000-foot long snow slide perched on an inflatable inner tube. You don’t need any special skills or gear – as long as your youngest is at least 3 years old, you’re good to go. Don your usual cold-weather clothing and get ready to slide down the slopes!
If You’re in the Mood for: Exploring the Outdoors
Introducing your kids to the outdoors is a win-win. They’ll get to do plenty of exploring and will learn to respect the environment, and you’ll all feel better after inhaling some fresh mountain air.
Lace up your hiking boots (or strap on your snowshoes, depending on what time of year it is), and as a family, choose one of the many accessible hiking areas around Whistler. Cheakamus Lake, Rainbow Lake, and the Ancient Cedars trail are all relatively easy hikes with plenty to look at along the way – any of these would make a great Saturday afternoon family hike.

There are plenty of high adrenaline activities to enjoy around Whistler, but what about those days when you’re feeling quiet and mellow?
Look no further than the Village 8 Cinemas in the heart of Whistler Village. Seeing a movie in Whistler is a great option for a rainy day, and our local theatre usually has a few good kids movies to choose from. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. You can all play film critic over dinner after the movie.
If You’re in the Mood for: Something Active
For those days when your kids are bouncing off the wall and you’re feeling a little stir-crazy, too, make a beeline to Meadow Park Sports Centre in Alpine Meadows. The local recreation facility has a huge pool (including a kids’ area) and a skating rink, so you can choose between water and ice – or do both.
Meadow Park is the perfect place to let go of any pent up energy. The best part: you can enjoy it any time of year, no matter what the weather is like.
