What drew you to real estate?
I moved to Whistler in 1991 after graduating from McGill University with the intention of teaching skiing for just one winter. However, after a year, I knew I wanted to make Whistler my permanent home. I purchased my first property in 1995, sparking my interest in real estate. Two years later, I bought my second property. By the early 2000s, I was eager to deepen my involvement in real estate and remain in Whistler. In 2004, I started my real estate license at the UBC Sauder School of Business and passed my real estate license in 2005. I have never looked back since. I love the business and the wonderful people I get to work with!
What is your favourite part about being a realtor?
My favorite part about being a realtor is definitely the clients I get to work with. Helping them achieve their goals and dreams, and making them a reality, is incredibly rewarding. I also love when clients visit Whistler, as it often gives us a chance to catch up over skiing, dinner, or a game of golf.
What are your favourite activities in Whistler?
We’re incredibly lucky to live in such an amazing playground for activities. I love to ski, fish, play hockey, mountain bike, golf, and hike.
Where’s your favourite place to eat out?
It’s so hard to choose just one place as we have so many fantastic restaurants in Whistler. Here are my top three: Bearfoot Bistro, Rim Rock, and Wild Blue.
What are your key highlights of your career?
The biggest highlight for me is always the positive feedback and appreciation I receive from clients for a job well done. I’m extremely proud of my over 74 five-star Google reviews. I’ve been a Platinum Performer with the Whistler Real Estate Company for several years and was honoured to achieve the President’s Medallion Club with the Real Estate Board of Vancouver in 2022, along with consistently achieving Medallion Club status.
What do you think are the most important qualities of a realtor?
The most important qualities of a realtor are being trustworthy, reliable, and a strong negotiator, as well as an out-of-the-box thinker who strives to provide clients with top-level service and information. I see myself as a real estate educator rather than a salesperson, working closely with clients to find their perfect match in Whistler and Pemberton.
Tell us something most people wouldn’t know about you.
That I am a gardener and love to grow my only vegetables at my house. It brings me a lot of joy and satisfaction, especially being able to enjoy fresh produce straight from my garden. I love having friends over for dinner and cooking a meal with what I have grown.
What’s your perfect day in Whistler?
That is hard to choose, as I can think of multiple perfect day scenarios, but if I had to pick one it would be a 50 cm light powder day and getting first tracks into Spanky’s Ladder on Blackcomb!
In one sentence, why should people live here?
The winters bring you to Whistler and the summers make you want to stay!
What is your biggest accomplishment outside of real estate?
Another hard question to pick just one. I’ve been deeply passionate about giving back to my community. Over the years, I’ve coached hockey and flag football, served as the chair of our local Squamish to Lillooet Sportfish Advisory Committee, and founded both the Sea to Sky Fisheries Roundtable and the Public Fishery Alliance—two advocacy organizations dedicated to salmon and steelhead conservation. In recognition of this work, I was honored to receive the National Recreational Fisheries Award in 2016 from the Federal Fisheries Minister.
