Whistler Realtor Q&A: Hillary Lawson

November 27, 2024

We’d like to introduce you to our newest agent, Hillary Lawson.

Hillary was born and raised in Ontario, in a family with 4 siblings. Over time, all of the other people from that household made their way west, so she found herself visiting Vancouver and Whistler every year or two. She finally followed her heart and packed up her dog and horse to make the cross country move to Whistler in 2021.

It’s safe to say that Hillary is fully in love with Whistler and Pemberton, from the lifestyle and the community, to the geography and the weather. You can often find her volunteering with Whistler Community Services and taking part in community events. One of the most appealing draws of real estate for her is the opportunity to welcome new people to our community and help them find their own place here.

When she isn’t working (and sometimes when she is, if you’re a client keen to join her) she spends her time riding her horse in Pemberton, hiking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, running on the Valley Trail, and trying to improve her golf swing. With a background in digital marketing, Hillary is definitely looking forward to helping you get the spotlight on your property.

What is your favourite season and why?

This might be cheating, but Spring is definitely my favourite time to live in Whistler because you get spring skiing (the best skiing of all) at the end of March, then the bears wake up and come down the mountain to eat the dandelions, then it warms up enough to start hiking and paddle boarding before summer hits.

What is your go-to place for a bite to eat?

The Alpine Cafe! It’s easy to get to, but off the beaten tourist path, so it’s definitely a local’s spot, but you can often catch live music there and I would eat their breakfast burrito with a side of fries for any meal, any time. This has inspired me, I’m going to go there and get one as soon as I finish typing this.

Are there any annual events or festivals in Whistler/Pemberton that you always look forward to?

Cornucopia, for sure. It’s an 11 day food and wine festival that happens during the prettiest part of the Fall in Whistler. I’m not even a big wine drinker, but their murder mystery dinner is an annual tradition for my sisters and me.

What is one thing you would recommend every visitor to Whistler/Pemberton experience during their stay?

I would suggest every visitor find a way to get outside here. Everyone knows our world class skiing and biking bring a lot of people to our town, but even people who aren’t keen on those activities can take it all in. In my opinion, the Valley Trail is one of the best ways to see Whistler! With a total of over 40km of smooth paved path, it’s manageable by bikers, runners and walkers, offers stunning mountain views, and can take you by Nita Lake, Alpha Lake, Alta Lake, Lost Lake and Green Lake.
